At American Tattoo Society, these piercings are done in fully private rooms, by piercers trained specifically in this work, with sterile single-use needles, implant-grade jewelry, and the same matter-of-fact professionalism you'd expect from any healthcare-adjacent service. No judgment, no awkwardness — just expertise.
What We Offer
- Nipple piercings — single or pair, barbells fitted to your anatomy; among the most popular piercings we do for all genders. Typical healing: 9–12 months (longer than most people expect — patience pays).
- Female genital piercings — the VCH (vertical clitoral hood) is by far the most common and most anatomy-friendly option, with other placements available where anatomy supports them. Many heal remarkably fast (4–8 weeks for a VCH).
- Male genital piercings — a range of established placements with varying healing times and lifestyle considerations, discussed candidly in consultation.
Every intimate piercing begins with a private consultation and anatomy assessment. This is non-negotiable and it's for your benefit: suitability for specific placements genuinely varies person to person, and a professional piercer will tell you honestly which options your anatomy supports well — and decline placements that would heal poorly or sit wrong. A piercer who will pierce anything on anyone is a red flag, here more than anywhere.
Privacy and Professionalism: What to Expect
- Private procedure rooms. These piercings are never done on the open floor.
- Chaperone-friendly. You're welcome to bring a trusted person, or not — your call.
- Consent and communication throughout. Your piercer explains each step before it happens, and you can stop at any point.
- Discreet from the front desk on. You can book or inquire without announcing details to a lobby; ask for a piercing consultation and specifics stay in the private room.
- Strict hygiene standards. Single-use sterile needles, sealed implant-grade jewelry, gloved sterile technique — the same standards as every ATS piercing, applied to the placements where they matter most.
Healing, Aftercare, and Lifestyle Honesty
Intimate piercings heal well when the aftercare is respected — and they fail when it isn't, so we're direct about what healing requires: saline care, breathable clothing choices, and abstaining from relevant activities for the healing window your piercer specifies (this varies significantly by placement, from weeks to months). Nipple piercings in particular are a long-haul commitment that reward patience with decades of trouble-free wear. A Note for Our Military Community
Two practical realities we walk clients through weekly in our base-town studios:
- Healing versus the job. Body armor, ruck straps, and field conditions are rough on healing nipple piercings specifically — the friction is real. Active-duty clients should plan these around leave blocks or lower-tempo periods, and be honest with themselves about the training calendar. Well-fitted jewelry under a uniform is undetectable once healed; healing is the phase that needs planning.
- Know your unit's rules. Jewelry standards technically extend beyond what's visible in some contexts (medical screenings, tank/flight roles with specific equipment). It's your career — know your branch and command's current standards before, not after.
Spouses and civilian clients: none of this applies to you, and you make up most of this clientele anyway.

It’s routine for us — genuinely. Your piercer has done this hundreds of times and will be professional, efficient, and communicative. Most clients say the anticipation was the hardest part.
How much does it hurt?
A sharp pinch measured in seconds, followed by soreness that fades over days. Placement matters; your piercer will set honest expectations for your specific choice in consultation.
Do nipple piercings affect breastfeeding?
Piercings are placed to avoid the ducts’ function, and many people breastfeed after healed nipple piercings (jewelry out while nursing). If future breastfeeding is a factor, raise it in consultation — timing recommendations exist.
Can I be turned away?
If your anatomy doesn’t support a safe, well-healing placement — yes, and you should want that honesty. Usually there’s an alternative placement that works beautifully.
