Built In Fayetteville, For Fort Bragg
American Tattoo Society opened its Fayetteville doors in 2014 for one reason: the soldiers, families, and veterans of Fort Bragg deserved a tattoo studio that took them as seriously as they take the mission. Set on Yadkin Road, minutes from the All American Freeway and the gates of Fort Bragg, we built a shop that runs on the same standards our clients live by — clean, prepared, and ready when you are.
Why We Opened Here
Fayetteville is a military town to its core, and Fort Bragg is home to the 82nd Airborne Division, Army Special Operations Command, and tens of thousands of soldiers who rotate through on orders. Those folks were driving an hour or more for work they could trust. We brought that work to them: award-quality tattooing, professional piercing, and an artist roster that understands deployments, PCS timelines, and the difference between a memorial piece and a Saturday-afternoon flash tattoo.
Clean, Private, Professional
Every station at Fayetteville is hospital-grade. We use single-use needles and tubes, autoclave-sterilized equipment, hospital disinfectant between every client, and bloodborne-pathogen-certified artists. Private booths are available for cover-ups, larger placements, and anyone who simply wants their session out of the main floor. Cleanliness isn't a selling point here — it's the baseline.
Walk-Ins & Appointments
Walk-ins are welcome every day we're open, first-come first-served, and they're the backbone of a military town where leave and pass windows are short. For larger or custom work, booking ahead guarantees your artist and your time slot — important when you're squeezing a half-sleeve into a four-day weekend. Either way, the consultation is always free and there's never any pressure to commit.
Custom Work Is The Standard
We're a custom-first studio. Bring a reference, a rough idea, or just a feeling, and your artist will draw something built for your body and your story — not pulled off a wall. From a single set of jump wings to a full Japanese back piece, the Fayetteville crew specializes in American Traditional, black & grey, fine line, Japanese, realism, lettering, cover-ups, and military and memorial work. Piercings, from lobes to daith to dermals, are done by appointment or walk-in.
The Atmosphere
Walk in and you'll hear the buzz of the machines, see flash on the walls, and get a straight answer from whoever's at the counter. No attitude, no gatekeeping — just professionals who happen to be very good at what they do. We named the shop American Tattoo Society because that's exactly what it is: a place for the brave who serve to mark what matters. Come see why Fort Bragg keeps coming back.

“I highly recommend American Tattoo. The facility is clean, staff is friendly and professional. Being able to just walk in and get a tattoo 20 minutes later is amazing. My artist did a beautiful job. His special artistic touch to my idea was beautiful. They even called me 2 days later to check in on me. Top-notch service, stunning artists. ”
“My 4-year-old wanted her ears pierced… We walked into ATS, and we were walking out in no time! The staff was very helpful, kind, and informative! Highly recommend!!!”
“I got my very first tattoo here and at first I was a little intimidated cause I was only 18 and I only wanted a small flamingo. The staff made me feel very comfortable and told me everything I needed to know about the tattoo and care for it afterwards. Since that day I've gone back for an additional two tattoos and a piercing! The best work and best prices in town! I love this place! Edit: Another tattoo, cosmetic tattoos and a piercing later. I still go back to this place time and time again. Megan is amazing at what she does! Can’t wait to see the final result of my eyebrows! 🤩 Update 2026: saw Megan again for a refresh and she does her thang again and again! Love her and her work sooo much!”

Questions From Fort Bragg
Walk-ins welcome, consultations always free. Can't find it? Start a Tattoo Talk and a real artist answers.
What's the closest tattoo shop to Fort Bragg?
American Tattoo Society Fayetteville is one of the closest professional studios to Fort Bragg — we're on Yadkin Road, a short drive from the gates via Bragg Boulevard and the All American Freeway. Most soldiers reach us in 10–15 minutes.
Do you take walk-ins or do I need an appointment?
Both. Walk-ins are welcome every day we’re open — Mon–Thu 11–10, Fri–Sat 11–11, Sun 12–10 — first-come first-served, which is perfect for short pass windows. For larger or custom pieces, booking ahead guarantees your artist and time slot. Either way the consultation is free.
Do you offer financing for military?
We don't run a flat percentage discount, but we do offer in-house financing for active-duty military — get the tattoo you want now and pay it off over time. Just bring your military ID and ask at the counter.
What ID do I need to get tattooed?
A valid government-issued photo ID proving you're 18 or older — driver's license, state ID, passport, or military CAC. We card everyone, every time, no exceptions. Military IDs are fully accepted.
How old do I have to be?
You must be 18 with a valid photo ID for any tattoo. North Carolina law does not allow tattooing of minors, even with parental consent. Some piercings have different age rules — call ahead and ask.
Is there parking at the Fayetteville studio?
Yes, we have a free on-site lot right at our Yadkin Road location, so you can park steps from the door. No meters, no garage, no hassle — easy in and out before or after your session.
Can I get tattooed while I'm home on leave?
Absolutely — leave windows are exactly why we welcome walk-ins seven days a week and stay open late. If you've got a specific piece in mind and limited days, message us your idea ahead of time so your artist can have a drawing ready when you arrive.
Can military spouses and dependents get tattooed here?
Of course. Spouses and dependents 18+ with a valid ID are welcome. We tattoo the whole family — plenty of matching and family-name pieces come through Fayetteville.
What are your busiest days?
Weekends — especially Saturdays — and the start and end of PCS season. If you want a specific artist or a longer custom session, weekdays are calmer and easier to book. Walk-ins any day, but expect a wait on Saturday afternoons.
Do you do cover-ups and memorial tattoos?
Yes to both. Cover-ups are a specialty — bring your existing tattoo in for a free consultation and we'll map out what's possible. Memorial work is sacred to us, and we'll take all the time it needs to honor the person you're carrying.
Do you do 82nd Airborne tattoos?
Every week — jump wings, the AA patch, All American mottos, and mast-of-honor memorial pieces. See our guide to tattoo designs inspired by 82nd Airborne history for ideas, then bring us yours.
